Hello, my beautiful friends! I hope you all are well and enjoying the start of spring. Here in the Portland area, the flowers have started to bloom. The cherry tree blooms are out in full color. The weather is heating up, and I sit outside in the yard enjoying my view as I write this newsletter.

I want to be fully transparent and let you know that I have been struggling with self-doubt and low self-esteem these last weeks. I had a couple of instances where I wasn’t picked for this or that situation, and I felt angry, hurt, and like I wasn’t good enough. I kind of felt like that last child on the playing field who no one wanted on their team. This has made me really look at how I see myself and the situations God puts me in.

Joni Erickson Tada is one of my Christian heroes. For those that don’t know, she was in a diving accident at the age of 17 that paralyzed her, but she allowed God to use that for His Kingdom. She has reached untold millions, not only with her story, but with her life. Did you know she is an accomplished artist? She paints using a paintbrush in her mouth. She sings and has records. She has written numerous books. She touches countless lives by allowing God to work through her.

One of her devotionals last week talked about 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 and how when we face God, what we have built on this Earth will either burn in the fire or will survive for eternity. It was a reminder to me to focus on what is important. Being recognized or picked for teams isn’t important, and in the scheme of eternity, they mean nothing!

Many people believe that God is great, but not too many believe He is great in them. –Lou Engel

I believe God is great. No problem there! But, believing He is great in me is a process I am determined to work on. Only by believing that God is great in each and every one of us can we build towards eternity. If we are always focused on ourselves, our focus is too small. We start to feel the shame from past events, the hurt of past slights, the “smallness” of being unwanted and unloved. These are Satan’s small and petty ways to distract us from the goodness of God’s power in us.

So, I encourage us all. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Remember why we are here on this Earth and build a legacy that will last for eternity.

I have attached a picture taken of me at the Pan Am Museum’s 50th anniversary event for Operation Babylift. You can see the video of the mini-documentary that was released at the event on my Facebook page.
